EDUCATION
Education is the foundation of New Mexico's future, and we must ensure every child, regardless of background, has access to quality education. My focus will be on equity, innovation, and community engagement to improve outcomes for students and ensure a thriving workforce. This includes increased funding for public education, expanded access for early childhood education, providing better educator recruitment, retention, and compensation programs, providing culturally relevant curriculum & bilingual education, increased investments in career and technical education, and addressing educational disparities and equity issues. By investing in our students, teachers, and schools, we can build a stronger, more equitable education system in New Mexico. This comprehensive plan aims to address the unique challenges we face while preparing our children for success in the modern world. Together, we can ensure that every student in New Mexico can thrive and contribute to our state’s bright future.
ECONOMY & JOBS
New Mexico and the Albuquerque area are ripe with opportunity, but to unlock our full potential, we need policies that foster innovation, job creation, and economic growth. The focus should be on sustainable development, workforce training, small business support, and leveraging New Mexico's unique resources to create high-paying jobs and a resilient economy. This includes promoting small business growth and innovation, developing the workforce of the future, attracting high-growth industries to New Mexico, continuing to invest in renewable energy and infrastructure, supporting outdoor recreation, tourism, and cultural sectors, addressing economic inequality and poverty, and fostering economic collaboration between urban and rural areas. By investing in workforce development, supporting small businesses, attracting high-growth industries, and fostering innovation, we can ensure economic opportunities for all. Together, we will build a stronger, more inclusive economy that works for every New Mexican.
PUBLIC SAFETY
Public safety is essential for the well-being of our families, businesses, and communities. To reduce crime, address systemic issues, and build trust between law enforcement and the community, we need a comprehensive approach that focuses on prevention, accountability, and community collaboration. We must recruit, retain the best in law enforcement and implement more community policing, expand mental health, substance abuse, and outpatient assisted treatment programs, address violent crime and gun safety, improve criminal justice reform and rehabilitation to reduce recidivism, strengthen youth crime prevention programs, enhance support for victims of crime, and increase public safety through technological innovation.. By strengthening law enforcement, investing in mental health and addiction services, promoting criminal justice reform, and providing opportunities for youth and at-risk individuals, we can create a more just, secure, and prosperous future for all. Working together with communities and law enforcement, we will build safer neighborhoods and a stronger New Mexico.
ENVIRONMENT
I am committed to protecting New Mexico’s environment, ensuring the health of our natural resources, and fostering a just transition to a sustainable, renewable energy economy. This includes environmental stewardship, water conservation, renewable energy development, and equitable support for communities and workers impacted by the transition. By protecting our environment, transitioning to renewable energy, safeguarding our water resources, and ensuring a just and equitable shift for workers and communities, we can build a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future for New Mexico. Together, we will take bold action to combat climate change, create good-paying green jobs, and ensure that every community shares in the benefits of a thriving, green economy.
